This fun 50th Wedding Anniversary party is one of the reasons it’s been a little quiet around here – it was 1 of 3 client parties I had in 3 weeks! I’m still loving the gold color scheme for events so this party was really fun to pull together!
My client contacted me about planning a suprise 50th wedding anniversary party for her parents and immediate family. She specifically wanted gold, since 50 years is considered your ‘golden’ anniversary. So I created this Pinterest board with some ideas and she selected the elements she wanted to incorporate into the party.
There were 2 large seating tables that I created centerpieces for. The centerpieces included gold spray-painted glass jars with either simple flower arrangement or the paper picks featuring the couples names and wedding year. This was my first time spray painting bottles and it was pretty simple and I absolutely loved the way they turned out. I will definitely be doing this again! I used my Silhouette machine to cut out and create the paper picks.
Other decorations included 5 dozen gold, silver and white balloons floating on the ceiling and this beautiful banner above the cake table.
The banner was made by attaching the gold glittered letter banner I purchased from a shop on Etsy and attaching it to pretty scrapbook paper.
At the center of the table below the banner was the simple, but beautiful cake.
In front of the cake on a gold platter were the perfectly coordinating cake pops. The gold bows on them were absolutely darling!
Favors for the event included a bag of gold colored candy tied with a coordinating printable thank you tag.
It turned out wonderful with some simple, but beautiful gold elements throughout.

So pretty, Holly! I have a joint birthday party to plan for my mom and sister, and this is great inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Jennifer, thanks so much for stopping by and thanks for your sweet comments!! xoxo Holly
What a beautiful party! I’ll be planning a 50th wedding anniversary party come August, so this is some wonderful inspiration to get me started. I love the painted gold vases and centerpiece sticks, especially with the year they got married. How sweet!
This was a really fun one to plan because I’m totally into gold right now! I’m glad I could help a little!
Hi! I love the party bags with the gold candy. Where did you find the favor tags? I am planning a small get together for my parents this summer =)
Thanks for all the great ideas.I am also planning a 50th anniversary party and need all the help I can get. Will definitely be using your suggestions. I love the party bags with gold candy, where did you find the favor tags?
Hi Shannon, glad I could help! I actually made the labels for the candy bags. If you’d like, I could change the names and send you the digital file to use for your party!
That would be great Holly, thanks!!!
HI. Can you also send me the digital file to use for a 50th Party I am throwing in 2 weeks?
THank you!
Hi Jennifer, I’d be happy to send you the file – what names would you like on the favor labels?
Thanks!
Holly
Holly – I absolutely love all your ideas! We’re throwing a party in 5 weeks and I was wondering if you could also send me the template to print the labels? I would SO much appreciate that!
Also, where did you find that gorgeous paper for the banner?
thank you!!!
Patricia
Thanks Patricia! What names would you like printed on the labels and I’ll send them over to you! I bought the paper for the banner at my local scrapbook shop – I couldn’t find what I wanted at the craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby so hopefully you still have a local scrapbook store you can visit! Good luck with the party!
I too am having a 50 anniversary party for my parents in a couple of weeks!! Can you also please send me the digital file of the paper picks & the labels for the candy bags? … their names are Tom & LaVerne / and the year is 1964. Thank you!
Hi Sandy! I’m so sorry, I just saw this comment – have you had the party yet?? If not, let me know and I can send you the digital file for the tags with your parents names on them for the candy bags. Those are the only things I can send you – the paper picks you’ll have to make yourself because those were made with my Silhouette cutting machine.
Hi Holly , Great ideas i would also love the digital file labels for the candy bags. My parents names are Donna & Jimmy and the year is 1964. Thankyou so much Darlene
Hello! I am having a party for my parents in a couple weeks. Could you send me the digital files for the labels for the candy bags as well as the digital files for those wonderful centerpieces?
I would be soooooooooooooo grateful!!
Hi, Holly
I have been viewing all the wonderful things you did for this 50th anniversary party. We are having one in about a week, I have everything almost together, but I like your idea of the party favors. How did you do the names on the bags?
Hi Marty,
Thank you! I created the round tags on my computer. If you’d like the same labels, send an email to [email protected] with the names you would like on the label and I can e-mail them to you.
This a beautiful idea for a 50th anniversary, I’m actually planning one for my grandparents this month. I would love to know how you created the paper picks? I also love the party favor labels, how were you able to create them?
Thanks again for sharing!
Hi Carissa, thank you! The paper picks were created by using my Silhouette cutting machine (similar to a Cricut machine). If you don’t have one, you could draw the basic shape onto cardstock and then cut out one and use it as a template to trace a bunch for how many you need. I used plain cardstock for the back and patterned scrapbook paper for the smaller shape with the words/letters on it. You could print the words/numbers you want onto the patterned cardstock and then cut them out. Then I just glued the top part onto small wooden dowels from the craft store and added ribbon.
For the favor labels I actually just used Microsoft Word to create them. If you’d like, send an email to [email protected] with the names you’d like on the tags and I can change the names and send you the file that you can then print and cut out.
I love your work! I am also planning a 50th Anniversary party for my in-laws. I have a Silhouette and would like to make the centerpiece paper picks. Did you use a font and shape from the Silhouette store? I tried to find similar shapes and fonts…I came close but couldn’t find the exact ones you used. I don’t mind using another similar shape but I absolutely love the font you used. Can you tell me the name of the shape and the font if you purchased it from the Silhouette store? Thanks in advance!
Hi Cristy! Yes, the shape is one that came with my Silhouette called ‘frame’ and the font is called Anderson Four Feather Falls Regular.
Hi I was wondering if you could possibly send me the candy label also
Hi Dawn, I got your email with the names for the tags & have sent them to you. Have fun with the party!
Holly
I was going to throw my parents a 50th anniversary party. I was wondering if you could send me the digital file for the tags. I think they turned out beautiful. My Parents names are Donnie and Barbara. Would greatly appreciate it.
Hi Sherrie, I just sent you an email with the PDF for the tags 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
Hi Holly, I am planning a 50th anniversary party in June. I saw your lovely favor tags and would love to have these also. Is it possible to send me the digital file for the tags? Names are Joyce and Joe and the year is 1964.
Thank you,
Joyce
Hi Joyce, Thanks for stopping by! I just sent you an email with the favor tags attached, let me know if you don’t receive it. Good luck with the party!
Hi Joyce, the email I sent just got returned to me, so it didn’t go through. Send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll reply to your email with the tags attached. Thanks!
Hi Joyce, I tried sending the tags again but my email got returned again. Do you have another email address I should use?
Hi Sherri, I love your centerpieces with the glass bottles. What type of spray paint did you use? Also I love the favor tags and would love a copy for my in-laws. Louis and Patsy Stewart, thanks!
Hi Jessica, I used a Krylon Metallic Gold spray paint for the bottles. I would also recommend using a gray primer spray paint before the gold – I noticed it helped the gold stick and look better. I’ve send you an email with the favor tags attached. Let me know if you don’t get it!
Hi there,
I sure hope you monitor this blog because I would love to know where you got the party favor tags or if you made them yourself or how you made them yourself!. The names are Bernie and Shirley who are celebrating their 50th. Thank you in advance!
Hi Nicola, I just sent you an email with the tags for Bernie & Shirley. Have fun planning the party!
Hi Holly…Thank you for sharing your ideas with us! I too am making a variety of party favors for a 50th wedding anniversary. I have a Cameo and found the Frame in the Silhouette library, downloaded the font from Dafont.com, and found the exact paper at Hobby Lobby for the paper picks. You can only imagine the thrill for me when this all fell into place! My question…What size did you go with for the Frames? I tried counting out lines on the larger one, but decided it may be easier to just ask! LOL So if you do remember, or have the file handy to share the dimensions for the outer layer on both the small and large paper pick, I would be soooo grateful! Thanks again for being so generous with your help!
Kathy
Hi Kathy! That’s wonderful that you have a Silhouette and were able to find the paper at Hobby Lobby!! The outer layer on the large pick is 7.5″ wide by 5.5″ high and the outer layer on the smaller pick is 6.5″ wide by 4.75″ high. I hope I’m not too late getting this information to you – I’ve been out of town recently. It sounds like everything is coming together perfectly! If you have any other questions, let me know! Holly
No, not too late with the info! 🙂 Just one more question…did you sandwich two toppers together with the stick in between, or glue the stick to the back of the layered paper?
I glued the stick to the back of the layered paper because I only used 1 plain piece of cardstock with the 2 patterned papers on each side.
Hi!! Your party was STUNNING!!!! We are throwing my in-laws a 50th anniversary party and I was wondering if you could help me find the candy labels you made and also I REALLY LOVE the paper picks with the year the couple was married and the couples names!!! And THANK YOU for sharing so people like me can try to be creative like you!!! LOL!
angela
Hi Holly. I would love a copy of your favor tags to use for my parents 50th anniversary in a few weeks. Would you be able to email them to me? Their names are David and Carol. Thank you so much!
Hi! Could you send me a digital file of the year 1964 and the names Clara and Manuel? I’d like to replicate those centerpieces. Will they come with the print behind the name?
Do you have the template to print the names and year that you attached to sticks? My parents are celebrating 50 years, so it would be 1964. The names are Lester and Ruth.
What a great party. I am helping my friend put together a 50th anniversary party for her parents and we are in love with the font you used on the table centerpiece picks for “1962′ Would you be able to tell me what font type that is? Thanks so much!!
Hi Pamela, thanks for stopping by! The font is called Anderson Four Feathers 🙂
Hi Holly,
Could you also send me the digital file for the 50th wedding anniversary party you did. I would love to use those tags for my in laws upcoming anniversary party. Thank you so much!
Sherry Delaney
Hi Sherry,Thanks for stopping by – I’m glad you liked the tags! Because of all the requests I’ve received, I’ve had to start charging $5 to customize the favor tags and now I also have available a digital file for the name and year paper picks, also $5 each. Let me know if you’re interested and what you’d like to order – the favor tags, name picks or both, and I’ll send you a PayPal invoice. Once payment is received, I will customize the files for you and send you the PDF via email.
Thanks!
Holly
Hi Holly,
Yes I would like to order both the favor tags and the name picks. Their names are Jean and Jim. thank you so much!
Sherry
Hi Sherry, I just sent you an email, just so we’re not messaging back and forth in the blog comments 🙂
I would like to purchase the 5oth anniversary gift tags. Dave and Gerry are the names for customizing.
Thanks! !
Hi Holly-
I have been reading through all the comments, and noticed that you are now selling the template for the paper pics- names and the year? Was hoping I could purchase these from you. We are throwing a 40th anniversary party and would love to incorporate these into the decor. I know that the template probably has a 50 with it- so if it could be changed to 40, I would appreciate it. My email is [email protected] if you want to send the the paypal invoice!
Thanks so much!
Bridget
Thanks for stopping by Bridget! I just sent you an email 🙂
Hi Holly,
I am putting together a brunch for my parents’ upcoming 35th anniversary. I’d like to create similar centerpieces, alternating between flower arrangements and paper picks. I’d like to order the customized print out for the paper picks and the favor tags as well!
Do you have a recommendation (on Etsy or custom order site or elsewhere) for where I might order a customized banner? Do you take orders for that? Ideally I’d like everything to go together well.
Thanks so much!
Zoe
Can you tell me how you did the paper picks with the names and dates? I love these and would like to duplicate for my parents 50th anniversary party. Is this something you do and sell?
I do have the printable paper picks available to purchase for $5. You would print out the pick shapes and create your own with small wood dowels and ribbon/tulle from the craft store. Let me know if this is something you’re interested in and I’ll send you more info and an invoice.
Can you tell me the font you used for the names?
Thanks!
I love the paper picks you used with the names and year married. Could you please tel me how to make or where I could buy them.
Hi Holly! 🙂
Great ideas i would also love the digital file labels for the candy bags. My parents names are Steve & Maria and the year is 1965. Thank you so much!
